10th January 2012
Happy New Year to everyone in the Hertfordshire Volleyball Association.
Harriers Ravens finished off 2011 with two wins to take them to the top of the ladies division. They start 2012 with a match against current champions Watford.
Both mens teams are keen to bounce back after defeats in December. Hawks play Vale on January 15th, while Jets are away at Watford the following weekend.
24th October 2011
Both Harriers mens teams started the season with 3-1 wins at home. The Hawks took on Danes VC in their first season back in the HVA for some years. After a relatively comfortable two sets lead to the Hawks, the game became a tighter affair with Danes fighting to get a set back. However, Hawks took a tight fourth set to come out on top. The Jets played the newly promoted Welwyn and stamped some authority on the match from the start by taking the first 2 sets. A bad passage of defensive lapses saw a tight third set go to Welwyn before Jets finished off the fourth with more composure.

Despite being rained off in July, the rescheduled Harriers Summer Four Play tournament saw fine weather and some good fun. Teams from all over Herts, Beds, Bucks and London took part in this event. For the 3rd year running Punjab Roadways won the mens division. The Mixed division staged a thrilling 3 set final that saw Chi chis from Enfield narrowly beat Cerus from London. More on the tournament
24th July 2011
Two teams from Harriers Volleyball Club went to Bath for the annual Whitefield tournament. All had a good time, caught some sun, a lot of socialising and the bonus of runners up in mens division 3. Unfortunately the good form in the play-offs ran out in the final, but a great performance all the same.
16th July 2011
Unfortunately we have had to postpone the tournament due to the conditions at the venue after some very heavy rain. The forecast for some more heavy downpours on Sunday made our minds up to call it off. The good news is that we have rescheduled it for 4 weeks time on Sunday 24th August. More details soon.

What a great start to the New Year with all teams winning their first games. January 8th, the Hawks won 3-0 at Welwyn. On the 9th Ravens travelled to Aylesbury and beat Vale Vixens 3-1 to retain their perfect start. Not to be out done Jets won at home against Berkhamsted 3-1 to make it four out of four.
8th November 2010
A great start to the season was completed on Sunday 7th November after the Ravens beat Enfield 3-0. This follows similar results for the Jets over Luton Lions and the Hawks over Welwyn. Jets also played out a 3-2 win over Berkhamsted on Sunday.
Good luck to all teams in the upcoming matches
19th September 2010
Two mixed Harriers teams turned up at the Herts Sports Village early on a Sunday morning to take part in the first HVA mixed indoor pre season tournament. The all day event guarenteed every team five full on games. Harriers ended up joint 3rd after a tough semi against the eventual winners and Party 7 avoided the wooden spoon with a win over Welwyn
6th September 2010
Harriers new season starts on Monday 6th September at the new time of 8 pm at STAGS.
With some new members coming to try us out and some old members requiring cobwebs removal, we can look forward to an exciting season ahead.
The fixtures for the new season will be released on September 20th
July 24-25th 2010
Harriers put in a mens and ladies team into this year Whitefield tournament in Bath.
After 2 days of playing in glorious weather and disintergating courts at the Recreation Ground a Jets team finished off in a credible 5th place in a very competitive division. The ladies put in some solid performances also, but no one told me where they finished, so lets call it first.
Oh yes, the 0.1, Mick played for the Hemel Sonics, (should be cronics) that propped up the same divison as the Jets with some unique play.
July 17th 2010
The weather held out for the 2nd year running and Spencer Fields in Sandridge was again host for our outdoor 4-a-side tournament
Everyone seemed to enjoy the days play, judging by their sunburnt faces. All went to plan, including a juniors court, a smaller (but classier raffle) and some top burgers from the bbq.
Bedford GNG retained their mens title and Hungry Hippos took the mixed prize.
See you all next year.
June 7th 2010
Harriers Jets played out an exciting post season friendly against Watford Danes at STAGS.
A spirited and competitive performance saw the Jets often leading through the 3 set match. The final score was 3-0 (22-25, 24-26, 23-25) to Danes, but as the points tally shows, it was a very close match.
Paul Westhead's Danes have just recently won promotion into Division 2 of the National League.
It was also Yuki's last match for Harriers. Good luck Yuki for your future in Denmark.
May 1st 2010
Harriers Jets set new standards for the club by finishing 2nd in Mens Div 1 and putting in some of the best performances in the club history.
Both the Hawks and Ladies put in some good performances, but consistancy played its part in disappointing final league positions.
July 4th 2009
Harriers inaugral summer tournament was blessed with good weather, 24 teams and a great day out by all.
Spencer Fields in Sandridge played host to a successful outdoor four-a-side tournament. Teams from around Hertfordshire and beyond played out a full days competition that saw Bedford GNG win the mens competition and VK Wombats win the mixed.
June 23rd - 24th 2009
Gordon, Mick and Morgan completed the 3 Peaks Challenge in under 48 hours raising over £1700 for the British Heart Foundation.
Despite it being almost mid summer, it was overcast and wet for most of the walking, some parts were even on snow. Good views from the top of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon were probably the biggest challenge. It took just over 38 hours to complete this event and thanks to your support and donations we were able to give the BHF
